I love being able to share success stories and this month I’d like to introduce you to a friend of mine who has truly found her passion, Valeria Cabaret.
“I have been a teacher since 1994, but I have always been attracted to Art. As a civil servant; it is hard to quit a secure job. I have always wanted to open a gallery and find new painters, but I didn’t have the time, or the opportunity… or the courage.
Fortunately, we moved to Bergen in 2011, and this was a turning point in my life. I started painting every day, encouraged by my family and friends. I met my mentor, Sabrina Tacci and I did the Kunst10daagse last October. This exhibition enabled me to feel more self-confident. But I needed another challenge to keep motivated and to improve . By chance, I met the owner of a restaurant who liked my paintings and asked if I would be interested to make an exhibition at her place. I was so delighted I accepted at once. I decided to make an exhibition in my native town too. It was a big decision because showing my paintings is revealing my personality.
My husband keeps on saying it is never too late to change one’s life and I now believe it is true. I think we all have a little voice deep inside us which tells us what we should do. I’d like to open a gallery when we go back to France. I am convinced that if I don’t try this adventure I will feel frustrated when I am older. I know that it may be difficult because I am used to working with fixed hours and plenty of holidays. But I have never felt so happy before. I think that when you have found a goal, you must try to reach it even if you doubt a lot.
