Target your CV for every job

It’s not just your cover letter, your CV should also be edited and tailored to match the job as closely as possible.

If you don’t do this then your CV may not be picked up by the automatic tracking systems that many companies now use to screen CVs or you may not be invited for an interview because the person reviewing your CV cannot see how you could be a good match for the job.

Sending out a generic CV gives the impression that you couldn’t be bothered to take time to edit your CV to show how you are a good match for the job which implies that you are not that interested in the position!
